POT PIE FARM
Talbot County, MD
Pot Pie Farm was first mentioned in Talbot County records in 1780 and was a busy agricultural enterprise for over 200 years, during which sheep and cows were raised and fruits and vegetables grown. Located at the confluence of Boatyard Creek and Cummings Creek on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, the original 80-acre farm had been broken into parcels when Ann and Charlie Yonkers bought Pot Pie in 1991. Today the farm is nine tract surrounded by 260 degrees of water. Ann Yonkers and farm manager Carol Bean operate on a small-scale using organic practices. The growing area consists of a market garden of 1/4 acres, numerous cutting flowerbeds, an herb garden and three prolific fig trees. There are 150 hens on 2 acres of pasture formerly called 'the field of dreams.' Pot Pie Farm sells seasonal vegetables, garlic, onions, herbs and cut flowers at the St. Michaels FRESHFARM Market. Pot Pie eggs are prized by local chefs and home cooks.
