BLUE RIDGE DAIRY
Loudoun County, VA

Paul and Alison Stephan operate Blue Ridge Dairy in Leesburg, VA. Paul makes fresh mozzarella, apple-wood smoked mozzarella, fresh ricotta (99-percent fat-free), mascarpone and Yo-Fresh (a tangy yogurt-like product) from Jersey cows' milk. A traditional method of natural lactic fermentation produces virtually lactose-free cheeses that are made with vegetarian rennet. Blue Ridge Dairy's farmhouse mozzarella was voted third best at the 19th annual conference of the American Cheese Society. Blue Ridge sells at the Dupont Circle, Silver Spring and Penn Quarter FRESHFARM Markets, at the Arlington Courthouse Market on Saturdays and to local Whole Foods Markets.
